“Adultery” is a scene of intense attraction, where intimacy becomes a test. The eyes in the surrounding space register what is happening, turning desire into a public gesture. The animals surrounding the characters become a silent approval of a primal force that seems to justify the protagonists of the painting. Here, contact emerges between the human and the anthropomorphic body as a kind of rupture: eros becomes a strange, post-human form of connection.
